Techno India University, West Bengal is glad to announce that it has undertaken a scientific research project based on estimation of design and operational wave height statistics to assess coastal vulnerability along the east coast of India. The object is to develop a multi nesting model (WW3+SWAN) setup for computational purposes along the coast of India and its validation with satellite data. The study would involve estimation of operational and design wave parameters by fitting wave data with suitable distribution function along the east coast of India, analysis and comparison of extreme wave heights calculated for given return periods using satellite information. This would also help in studying the impact of swells on the design wave parameters during normal and cyclonic conditions along the east coast. The funding agent for this project is Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad and the funding amount is 16.66 lakhs for a duration of 2 years (01-07-2017 to 31-03-2019)
