Research in English

The Department of English greets you warmly. Established as one of the major departments of the institute, since its inception in 2013, the Department of English is involved assiduously in research and teaching. The Department of English has faculty members with excellent research profiles.

Research specializations of the department include world literatures as well as comparative literature, with particular focus on interdisciplinary studies such as, but not limited to, the interrelationship between arts and sciences, history and narrative, women’s and gender studies among others.

Research scholars pursuing the doctoral programme in the department are working in areas such as Literatures of the 19th century, Indian English Literature, British and American Popular Culture, Latin American Literature, Postcolonial literature, Partition Literature, Gender and Women’s Studies, Film and Psychoanalysis to mention a few areas.

The postgraduate programme is a full-time two year programme where students can study a range of courses such as ‘Detailed Study of a Classic’, ‘Individualism, Individual Rights, Human Rights’, ‘Genre Theory’ among others.

The Department also offers an undergraduate programme in English Literature. The undergraduate programme (English Honours) follows the UGC mandated CBCS guidelines.
With advanced laboratory, modern ICT techniques in teaching processes and excellent members of faculty, the Department of English imparts quality education and plays an important role in shaping the soft skills of BTech, BArch, BBA/BBALLB, BPharm, BSc, BCA and MCA students at Techno India University, along with enhancing their skills for career advancement. In addition to teaching communication skills, the department believes strongly in sensitizing students to issues affecting environment, gender, ethics and human values.
