The newly introduced BA English Honours course under CBCS guidelines aims to give students a broad
understanding of English literary works of different genres from the fourteenth to the twentieth
centuries also includes exciting courses such as classical literature and other literatures in English
translation. The course is different from traditional English literature courses which revolve around
literary studies. Over three years students will also gain knowledge of related domains such as
environmental studies and obtain intensive practical skills in areas such as creative and communicative
English.
The MA programme in English literature at Techno India University will expose students to a wide
variety of authors, themes, genres and periods. At the same time it will involve close reading and
analysis of texts and will encourage students to think independently and write argumentatively. As a
step towards this, in addition to writing papers students will be able to opt for a thesis in their final
semester.
